GivingTuesday is an international day of giving to charity during the holiday season and is fueled by the power of collaboration and social media. And by giving to a nonprofit organization during the holiday season, there are many benefits. GivingTuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and popular shopping events, such as Cyber Monday and Black Friday.
GivingTuesday And How You Can Make A Change
This annual tradition was started in 2012 by the 92nd Y in NYC and was started to support philanthropy throughout the year. You get to support causes that are important to you. For example, you may not be a micro-biologist who is searching for a micro-organism that could be a cure for cancer. However, you can help find the cure by giving to local nonprofits. We hope that you have a moment to realize that by helping others will give you a feeling of satisfaction. Giving will just give you back that good feeling. Plus, you can take a tax deduction when you donate to an IRS-approved charity.
NonProfit Organizations
Mooresville and surrounding areas have a multitude of local non profits ranging from Educational Organizations to Pet Adoption, such as the Solace For Children, Lake Norman Humane, Stocks For Tots, The Dale Jr. Foundation and many more. From health nonprofits and animal rights to educational and international aide organizations, the choices are endless. You can even volunteer your time to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Organize a local toy drive, prepare a meal for your local police department, donate used goods to a charity or donate food to a local food bank during the holidays. Then, post, share, and/or tweet about it using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
Join In
#GivingTuesday exemplifies the spirit of giving back and reminds us all that the holiday season is a special time of year. It’s also a national call to action to give to those less fortunate inside or outside your community. Other ways to celebrate this rather new movement is to create a #GivingTuesday theme each Tuesday specific to your cause. Reach out to your network and give them a message about what this day is all about. You can add a note about your shoutout to your newsletters, emails and social media posts. Create social media posts that use hashtags with key words being #GivingTuesday, #charities,#nonprofits and #fundraisers. Even add the logo to all of your materials, including offline and online.
This year, be sure to get proactive with #GivingTuesday. Join the cause and give today.
