Search for Catfish<\/h2>\n

The catfish population explodes in the summer months, when the warmer water temperature makes other fish more sluggish. Enjoy the challenge of snagging a channel, blue, or flathead catfish that weighs somewhere between one and three pounds, or beat the record of 85 pounds. You might even be the one to finally catch the 100-pound blue regional that anglers think swims near Cowan’s Ford Dam. Good baits include stink baits, night crawlers, red wiggler worms, minnows, and even table scraps: like leftover chicken, cheese and bacon.<\/p>\n

Lake Norman is a prime spot for fishing after dark in July and August. The air temperature cools between dusk and dawn or when it’s overcast and the sun isn’t warming up the water.
