DISCONNECT YOUR EMOTIONS<\/strong> When it comes time to sell, you need to think of your home as a \u201chouse\u201d; just a piece of property that needs to be marketed and sold to accomplish your end goal. Your goal at this point is to relay to others that this is \u201ctheir\u201d potential home, not yours!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. UNCLUTTER THE HOUSE<\/strong> This is absolutely one of the hardest things to do because we become emotionally attached to everything in our home. Clutter makes everything look smaller in the home. You want it to appear as large and open and clean as you possibly can. The most important room to de-clutter is your Kitchen. Small appliances need to be off counter tops and stored away and out of sight. Junk drawers need to have the junk removed. Counter tops and cabinetry need to look pristine.<\/li>\n
  3. FIXING UP THE INTERIOR<\/strong> Make small repairs like dripping faucets, squeaky doors and caulking around tubs and showers. It is an excellent idea to hire a cleaning service to go through the entire home to make it sparkle. You might also want to look into painting the interior if you feel that a potential Buyer would find color choices to be too old or too bold. This is truly one of the least expensive ways to lift up the interior of your home; but remember; keep it neutral. Get carpets cleaned as well.<\/li>\n
  4. ODOR CONTROL<\/strong> Be certain to minimize smoking indoors while trying to sell your home. It might be best to move it outdoors. Be certain to keep cat litter boxes freshened each day and if you are a dog lover, please try to keep the dog(s) confined to the garage during showings or better yet take them with you while your home is being shown.<\/li>\n
  5. THE EXTERIOR<\/strong> Nothing makes for a best first impression than a clean and crisp exterior. Be certain to keep the lawn manicured and edged at all times. Always rake up leaves and grass clippings. Have your roofing contractor check out your roof for any potential leaks. Touch up exterior paint where necessary. Most important is to give your front door a fresh paint update.
